Crafted in Kashmir is an authorized user of the ‘Kashmir Pashmina’ Geographical Indication. A Geographical Indication or GI is used internationally to indicate the place of origin and continued practice of a traditional craft. The GI mark is fused to the scarf after an extensive microscopic analysis determines the scarf to be made from 100% cashmere fibers from the fleece of the Himalayan mountain goat (Capra-Hircus). Such a scarf must also be hand-spun and hand-woven by the artisans of Kashmir. Each of our scarves comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by us, detailing how it was made.
We guarantee that each 'Crafted in Kashmir' scarf is a fine Kashmir Pashmina.
Our customers will also be able to receive laboratory tested scarves bearing the ‘Kashmir Pashmina’ GI seal once the service is fully operational later this year.
